Course Description

American workers are exposed to respirable crystalline silica (RCS) every day.  Workers exposed to RCS are at increased risk of developing serious adverse health effects including silicosis, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and kidney disease.  Course #7215 covers the key requirements of the OSHA Respirable Crystalline Silica standard final rule for construction.  This course will provide participants with information about RCS health hazards, employee exposure, exposure assessment options including the OSHA Respirable Crystalline Silica Standard, CFR 1926.1153 and 1910.1053, Table 1, and exposure control measures. This course will provide participants the opportunity to work with a number of hands-on workshops, which provide the student an opportunity to get experience with OSHA Respirable Crystalline Silica Standard, CFR 1926.1153 and 1910.1053, Table 1, performance and scheduled monitoring options, construction specified exposure control methods and an Exposure Control Plan.
